I would be very careful when choosing Eric Smith Solicitors work. Theres a reason for their price. Will they get the work done? Probably. Will they stress you out and having you to chase your solicitor for days on end with no results? Surely.I have being appointed 3 solicitors during my 3 months with them with minimum information or handover. My impression is that they are a bunch of overworked solicitors with minimum time or patience for buyers, specially first time buyers. I spend *hours* chasing them on the phone and emails and was one of the most stressful periods of my life. I still am since my house purchase has being completed and I am yet to see any signs of the original documents. Hindsight is a bliss but if I was to do it again, I would probably find a more expensive solicitor close to me that I can just pop by and speak face to face instead of spending hours and hours on the waiting queue. frustrated is an understatement.
Received a quote to do the mortgage transfer of an existing buy to let property. Easy enough you would think!- Communication was shocking once procedure had been started - was given a trainee solicitor that did not even understand mortgage provider portals and held the process up by weeks at a time.- Receptionist was very unprofessional in telephone mannerisms.- When it finally transferred I was over-charged and still not been compensated. No response from the company.- Still not received the final documentation - Next step ombudsmen. DO NOT TOUCH WITH A BARGE POLE.
Their price is the best online by far but unfortunately you also get proportionate service. They need to be pushed into doing things for conveyancing and had 2 solicitors and 1 para legal leave during the process which slowed things down. Pleasant when spoken to but too busy to give the required process. Caught them out on missed details on a couple of occasions. Often repeated enquiries. Anyway, in the end got the deal done and good price but too frustrating to give more than 2
I am in a chain in which my buyers' buyers have regrettably chosen to use Eric Smith Solicitors. They have made everyone's life in the chain a complete and utter misery day after day, week after week, month after month. If you want to be hated by everyone else in the chain, make this process even more stressful and miserable than it already is and hold up EVERYONE's sale and purchase, so that everyone is driven to distraction by the uncertainty and wretchedness of the buying/selling their property.... then.... choose Eric H Smith Solicitors, and you will have spectacularly achieve your objective!!! If however, you want your purchase and/or sale to go smoothly and quickly, then choose a solicitor on the high street who will answer emails, respond to phone calls and get the damn job done is an acceptable amount of time. Right now, I have been waiting for hours to complete. My house is empty and I'm sitting on a window ledge waiting to hear that we have completed.... and guess who is holding up the process? Yup.... you've guessed it. ERIC H SMITH SOLICITORS. I am so totally fed up with them. Keep away!!!!!
